# Connect MCP clients

> Add the hosted StoreInspect MCP server to ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, VS Code, and other remote MCP clients.

StoreInspect MCP is a hosted remote MCP server. Most clients use:

ChatGPT uses a dedicated data-only endpoint:

Claude uses a dedicated endpoint:

Authentication is OAuth. When the client connects, sign in to StoreInspect and approve the requested scopes.

  Do not paste StoreInspect API keys into AI clients. MCP uses OAuth and does not require API keys.

## Before you begin

* A StoreInspect account. Free accounts can use the store and contact tools through Claude. Other MCP clients require a paid plan for those tools.
* An MCP-compatible client
* Access to sign in to the StoreInspect account you want the client to use

## ChatGPT

Open the approved StoreInspect listing in ChatGPT:

Select **Add**, then sign in to StoreInspect and approve the requested permissions.

To connect StoreInspect manually instead:

1. Open ChatGPT settings.
2. Go to Connectors.
3. Create a custom connector.
4. Use this MCP server URL:

5. Choose OAuth as the authentication method.
6. Sign in to StoreInspect and approve the requested permissions.
7. Ask ChatGPT to use StoreInspect to show your current usage.

The ChatGPT endpoint includes StoreInspect search, enrichment, usage, and contact tools. Billing tools are available only through the StoreInspect dashboard and the general MCP endpoint used by other clients.

## Claude

Use StoreInspect MCP as a custom connector.

1. Open Claude settings.
2. Go to Connectors.
3. Add a custom connector.
4. Use this URL:

5. Start the OAuth flow and sign in to StoreInspect.
6. Ask Claude to use StoreInspect to show your current quota state.

Active Free accounts can search up to 50 stores or contacts per call through Claude. Store and contact reads do not consume the unique-store export allowance; contact reveals still spend normal StoreInspect contact credits after explicit confirmation.

## Claude Code

Run:

Then open Claude Code and run:

Follow the OAuth flow to authenticate with StoreInspect.

## Codex CLI

Add the hosted MCP server:

```

Authenticate with StoreInspect:

codex mcp login storeinspect
```

Then open Codex and run:

```

Confirm that `storeinspect` is connected.

## Cursor

Install StoreInspect MCP directly:

After Cursor installs the server, open **Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP** and click
**Connect** on the StoreInspect row to start OAuth. If your browser asks to open
Cursor after authorization, choose **Open Cursor** and return to Cursor.

Or add StoreInspect MCP to your Cursor MCP configuration manually.

When Cursor starts the connection, complete the StoreInspect OAuth flow.

## VS Code

Use VS Code's MCP server configuration.

Then authenticate with StoreInspect when prompted.

## Other clients

Use these settings for clients that support remote MCP servers:

## Verify the connection

For ChatGPT, ask:

Use StoreInspect to show my current usage.
```

For another MCP client, you can also ask:

Use StoreInspect to show my billing status.
```

The general MCP endpoint should call `get_billing_status`, which works on every plan. Claude can call `get_usage` on any active plan. Other clients require a paid plan for usage and data tools.
