# MCP quickstart

> Connect StoreInspect MCP, authenticate with OAuth, and verify your first StoreInspect tool call.

StoreInspect MCP is a hosted remote MCP server.

ChatGPT uses the dedicated data-only endpoint `https://mcp.storeinspect.com/openai`.

Claude uses the dedicated endpoint `https://mcp.storeinspect.com/claude`. Active Free accounts can search stores and contacts through this endpoint with up to 50 results per search.

It uses OAuth. When your client connects, sign in to StoreInspect and approve the requested scopes.

  Do not paste StoreInspect API keys into AI clients. MCP uses OAuth and does not require API keys.

## Before you begin

* A StoreInspect account. Active Free accounts can use store and contact tools through the Claude endpoint. Other MCP clients require a paid plan for those tools.
* An MCP-compatible client
* Access to sign in to the StoreInspect account you want the client to use

## Connect

Use this server URL in your MCP client:

For a manual ChatGPT connection, use:

For Claude, use:

https://mcp.storeinspect.com/claude
```

If you use Cursor, you can install the server directly:

After installation, click **Connect** on the StoreInspect row in Cursor settings
to start OAuth.

Transport: Streamable HTTP.

Authentication: OAuth.

## Verify the connection

On any plan using the general MCP endpoint, ask your client:

Use StoreInspect to show my billing status.
```

The client should call `get_billing_status`. A Free user can then ask for a specific subscription link and confirm the purchase in Stripe.

On Claude with any active StoreInspect plan, or on another client with a paid plan, ask:

Use StoreInspect to show my current usage.
```

The client should call `get_usage` and return your plan, quota, search-row usage, and remaining contact credits.

## Try a workflow

Start with a preview-only workflow before revealing contacts:

Use StoreInspect to find 10 US Shopify Plus beauty stores using Meta Pixel but not Klaviyo. Show the domains and explain why each store matched.
```

Then continue with contact search:

```text theme={null}
Search for founder or ecommerce decision-maker contacts at those stores. Do not reveal contact channels yet.
```

## Manage or revoke access

Open MCP settings:

You can view connected clients and revoke access.
